Knit and Natter
A chance to chat and be creative
We are a group which meets in the church lounge usually once a month in the evening in summer and afternoon in winter.
We started by knitting daffodils before Easter in 2011 to distribute in our local community together with an Easter message. We continue to meet and have completed several projects—a display of fruit, vegetables and flowers for the harvest festival, heart key rings which were given to everyone who attended the Christmas Sunday with a Difference service.
Our project now is knitting for very early born babies for whom there are no clothes which are the right size. We meet very informally for two hours, during which time we have tea and coffee, and as our name says, knit and natter.
Special times of prayer
IT’S GOOD TO TALK
We will be delighted to welcome anyone who wants to join us.
Many Christians struggle with prayer; many Christians feel guilty about their own prayers. Yet prayer is an amazing privilege. In prayer we get to talk to the Creator of the Universe; we get to talk to God. Most important people in the world never talk to me or would not answer the phone if we called. The Prime Minister never talks to us, yet God does.
Prayer very simply is communication with God. In the words of an old B.T. advert, “it is good to talk.” We do not have to use clever language or old fashioned words; we just need to be real and be open to what God will say to us.
We meet every Wednesday at 2.00pm in the church.
These times are open to everyone, and any situation, personal or bigger, can be the focus for prayer.
OPEN DOOR
Twice monthly
Open Door is held every first and third Thursday in the month in the Church lounge. A time to meet friends over coffee and biscuits served from 10.30am and to join in fellowship together during a short time of worship from 11am to 12pm.
A warm welcome awaits all those who would like to come along.
‘A real oasis in the week.’
FRIDAY CLUB
Friday Club meets each Friday evening between 6.15pm and 7.30pm. The club is open to all children of primary school age. If you are new, please book at contact@holcombebrook.org.
The leaders and children play games, learn crafts, take part in quizzes and occasionally cook. Each week is run on a theme and a bible story is told or acted out.
There are occasional trips out and we like to take advantage of the good weather by having outside activities.
The aim is to learn about the Bible in a fun setting with friends.
